GALLERY 33 JEWELLERY MAKING TUITION
Ever wondered how a precious stone is set in a ring or how a piece of jewellery has been made?
Do you like making things and fancy a go at making pieces of quality jewellery? If the answer to these two questions is ‘YES’ then why not enroll on a short course and have a go.
You could come and learn how jewellery can be made. You can design and make your own pieces of jewellery in silver or gold or other less conventional materials.
We have a small and well equipped workshop where you will be tutored in metal working and jewellery making processes and techniques. You are free to experiment to enhance your learning and to develop your craft skills in an easy going and friendly atmosphere. You could learn how to set stones along with other processes including stamping, punching and pressing, casting, chasing and repousse.
The tutor, Mark Veevers, has forty years of experience in silversmithing and Jewellery and thirty years of full time Further Education teaching experience. With a City and Guilds certificate, a degree in the subject and a post graduate teaching qualification Mark is willing and able to help you to realise your creative and practical ambitions.
Why not enroll on the introductory block of sessions and try it out. You don’t need any previous experience and all levels of ability are catered for.

We are now running weekly jewellery making classes. These run in blocks of varying numbers of weeks, but the usual is ten weeks. The classes are on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 pm. Students enroll in advance of the start date.
Newcomers will undergo an introductory period which is usually three or four weeks and includes introductions to manufacturing techniques including health and safety and good practice advice and 'hands on' practical working. Processes and equipment are demonstrated to inform students of their use and their creative potential. Students will be encouraged to experiment and explore possibilities to help develop their own individual creative process. After this initial introductory period, students are encouraged to explore their own personal direction; free to develop their own projects and to focus on their own particular interests within the subject within the possibilities offered by the available facilities.
If you are interested in attending these sessions please, either put your name and contact details in the big brown book which is at Gallery33, 33 Abbey lane, Sheffield. S8 0BJ. tel 0114 2745482. Or email me at mveevers@talk21.com expressing your interest, and I will add you to my list of interested people.
The sessions are intended to be predominantly jewellery making in a conventional sense or a non conventional and
alternative creative sense.
Many thanks
Mark Veevers
